On October 26, 2013, the Avon Lions hosted a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s to benefit the construction of a Fisher House at the VA Hospital in Cleveland.  Fisher House is a facility that will provide lodging, meals, and support for the families of wounded soldiers who are receiving treatment at the Louis Stokes VA Hospital.

The benefit was called Flapjacks for Fisher House and raised over $1000 dollars for the charity.  Lion members served as waiters and bussers to the 145 hungry patrons and sold 50/50 tickets . The winner of the 50/50, a gentleman who was identified only as” Ralph” at his request to remain anonymous, donated his entire winnings back to the charity!  In addition, the Avon Lions matched the funds raised, so the total donation to Fisher House will be just over $2000!
